about me

Marvin Houston is an accomplished media, entertainment, and mental health professional. He possesses more than 20 years of diverse experience as a highly sought-after spokesman, thought leader, and community advocate. He’s passionate about serving individuals in entertainment and in ministry. His mission is to shatter the stigma of mental health by offering basic knowledge and awareness of mental health in underserved communities.

He began his media broadcast career as an on-air radio announcer at WXVI 1600 AM “THE LIGHT” where he worked as co-host of “Midday Praise” with Sharon Dunn in between his studies at Alabama State University. Subsequently, he transferred to Full Sail University where he earned his BS in Music Business and obtained additional media-related certifications from Trenholm State Technical College.

As he continued to build his foundation in media entertainment, he worked as local producer for the Tom Joyner Morning Show at WRRX FM, Master Control Operator for the Trinity Broadcasting Network – TBN, and extended his reach within the music industry where he worked in marketing leadership capacities with Music World, Integrity Records, Emtro Gospel, and the Gospel Music Workshop of America Radio Announcer's Guild.

Throughout his career, Houston has witnessed the psychological toll that the pressures of the entertainment industry can have on professionals. He also took an interest in supporting community service efforts that focus on children and adult behavioral health services for persons with developmental disabilities. Due to his observation and his passion for helping others, he saw an opportunity to create his own niche that allowed him to merge his passion of entertainment and his concern for the well being of others by readjusting his trajectory and continuing his education with the study of mental health.

Following additional certifications in Evidence-Based Individual Placement & Support from The University of Georgia and Adult Mental Health First Aid USA from the National Council of Behavioral Health, Houston became a Kemetic Reiki Practioner and is currently completing his studies at Capella University where he is slated to receive his Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Keeping in step with his passion, in 2017 he founded and opened Centered Community Care, LLC. The company offers a comprehensive range of services that includes educational support, training, skill building, job preparation tools, career development and resources, and full engagement and interaction in the community. Through his venture, his desire is to offer to heal mentally, physically, and spiritually through a clinical approach.

As a speaker, he’s participated in various conferences and seminars that include – THE BLUEPRINT: Atlanta Edition, a series of Music Business and Faith-based Marketing sessions developed by the Bellamy Group Marketing and Publicity Agency and Beulahland Bible Church’s RESET Worship & Fine Arts Conference.

The Pensacola, Florida native is a member of Chi Sigma Iota, 100 Black Men of America, and The Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia, INC. He divides his time between Atlanta and New York City.
